At Zendesk, we believe getting help at work should be as fast and intuitive as getting help as a customer. But even everyday internal support requests can be complex. Knowledge is scattered across multiple systems, requests arrive through different channels, and the right answer depends on each employee’s permissions and access. Most AI isn’t built for this reality.

That changes today with Zendesk Employee Service AI Agents, a specialized AI offering purpose-built for internal support. Powered by technology from our recent acquisition of Unleash, Employee Service AI agents connect to enterprise knowledge, are permission aware by design, and capable of resolving complex requests in the flow of work.

Deliver instant answers from any source, in the flow of work

Employee Service AI Agents offer a better way to resolve common employee requests like:

  • "How do I reset my VPN?"

  • "Where is the latest parental leave policy?"

  • "What's the process for onboarding a contractor?"

Answers to these questions are often scattered across systems—Confluence, Google Drive, Seismic, Workday, and more. Yet traditional employee support tools typically search only within the support portal. Helpful, but limited.

Employee Service AI Agents search across enterprise knowledge, from HR policies and IT documentation to wikis, tickets, and chats, and then deliver answers right where employees already work in Slack and Microsoft Teams.

Deploy with confidence and control

Internal support often involves sensitive employee information. That makes security and access control essential, not optional.

Employee Service AI Agents are permission-aware by design, respecting the access controls across every connected knowledge source. Whether permissions are managed through an identity provider or within the source system itself, Employee Service AI Agents surface only the information an employee is authorized to see.

Employee Service AI Agents enable end-to-end automation of employee requests and back-office workflows

Automate complex requests with our new AI workflow builder

Resolving employee requests requires more than surfacing the right information. It also means taking action. Employee Service AI Agents enable end-to-end automation of employee requests and back-office workflows, including:

  • Updating an address in Workday with utility bill verification

  • Handling new software access requests with policy-based approvals

  • Orchestrating new hire onboarding across ATS, HCM, IT, and Payroll

These aren't simple one-click tasks. They're complex processes that require coordination across teams, often with human approvals and exception handling along the way.

Today, building these workflows typically means manually configuring every step in drag-and-drop tools that can be rigid and time-consuming.

We're changing that with a new natural language automation builder for Employee Service AI Agents. Admins simply describe the outcome they want—for example, onboarding a new hire by creating their Workday profile, provisioning an Okta account, assigning a laptop, and granting access to the right applications.

The builder automatically:

  1. Identifies the right APIs to create the employee record in Workday and provision IT assets
  2. Understands dependencies, such as sending the laptop-choice email only after the new hire activates their account
  3. Adds guardrails to ensure the right approvals happen before access is granted

This means support teams can build powerful, secure workflows faster, without spending hours researching documentation or manually stitching together every step. Once deployed, Employee Service AI Agents execute those workflows directly within the employee conversation, turning a request into end-to-end resolution.

A new standard for Employee Service

We didn't build just another bot. We reimagined automation around what employee service actually requires: secure access to enterprise knowledge, support where work happens, and a modern AI-first approach to building workflows.

The businesses that lead the next decade of service won't draw a line between customer experience and employee experience. They'll deliver both to the same standard.

That is the future we are building toward.
