About this app

Forest is the operational infrastructure regulated companies grow on. Fintechs, banks, and crypto companies use Forest to run compliance and business operations, coordinating humans, AI agents, and suppliers under one set of permissions.

This app brings Forest directly into Zendesk. From any ticket, your support agents can view the linked customer record, search across your Forest collections, and execute actions such as refunds, account updates and KYC checks, with Forest's permissions and approval chains enforced on every one.

Agents stop switching tabs and copy-pasting customer ids between Zendesk and your back-office.

Trusted by 500+ financial companies, including Qonto, Swan, and Spendesk.

Features

  • Customer 360 in the ticket sidebar: the linked Forest records and their related data, rendered from your schema

  • Governed actions from the ticket: run Forest actions such as refunds, account updates and verifications without leaving Zendesk

  • Search across all your Forest collections: find any customer, transaction, or case in seconds

  • Role-based permissions: agents see and do only what their Forest role allows

  • Approval chains: Forest routes an action that needs approval for review instead of running it

  • AI-suggested actions and drafted replies: the app reads the ticket and surfaces the actions most likely to resolve it (see Data & privacy)

  • Works with your existing Forest setup: your collections, your actions, your rules

Data & privacy

Your records stay in your infrastructure. The app reads them in real time through the Forest BFF your team deploys, and stores or replicates nothing outside it. Every call travels as the signed-in Zendesk agent, so your Forest role-based permissions and approval chains apply unchanged.

Two features in the Actions tab, the suggested actions and the drafted customer reply, send the ticket's subject, description and the requester's name and email to Forest's AI proxy, which relays them to a model provider. The app sanitizes and length-caps that text first. It never sends the records and relations browsed in the Data tab, and never sends the matching. Stay out of the Actions tab and no ticket content reaches a model.

Forest's audit trail is a separate feature of the agent, off until you enable it. Turn it on and your agent records every write made through your data layer into your own database.

Requirements

  • A live Forest project, cloud or self-hosted

  • A Forest BFF your browser can reach: embedded in a Node.js agent on @forestadmin/agent 1.100.0 or later (addBff()), or @forestadmin/agent-bff run standalone
  • Sign-in enabled on it. GET {your-bff-url}/health must report configured.oauth: true
  • The app's iframe origin allow-listed on the BFF: https://*.apps.zdusercontent.com, which needs @forestadmin/agent-bff 1.31.0 or later, or the exact origin of your installation. Your Zendesk tenant URL is not the iframe origin and does not work in its place
  • A Forest account for each Zendesk agent, with roles and permissions configured

Setup

  1. Install the app from the Zendesk Marketplace

  2. In Zendesk, go to Admin Center → Apps and integrations → Zendesk Support apps → Forest

  3. Enter your Forest BFF URL

  4. Each agent signs in with their Forest account on first use, and their Forest permissions apply from there

To check it works, open a ticket from a known customer. The Forest sidebar shows their record.
